While training, Selina met Bruce Wayne when walking through the East End with Holly, and rejected her advances. Detective George Flannery visited her, and told her of Ted Grant, a man who could teach her to fight and defend herself. After being viciously beaten by a pimp named Stan, she passed our near the Immaculate Virgin Mission, and was sent to the hospital. When the carnival owner died in a tragic accident, Selina decided to go to the streets of Gotham and become a thief.īecoming a petty thief, Selina found herself working as a prostitute in the East End to get by, and watched over Holly Robinson, an underage girl. She eventually escaped from the center and joined a carnival circus group outside of Gotham City, and learned contortionism, acrobatics, magic, trickery and improved her pick pocketing skills. Selina was separated from Maggie when she was sent to the Sprang Hall Juvenile Detention Center, which was an abusive state home for orphans and delinquents. Maria later committed suicide and Brian was abusive, and later drank himself to death soon after. Selina Kyle is the daughter of Brian and Maria Kyle, and the older sister to Maggie Kyle, and her childhood was defined by tragedy. She was created by the late Bill Finger and the late Bob Kane, and she first appeared in Batman # 1 in spring of 1940.
